Programme Management
for one of the largest retail warehouses in Eastern Europe for Pepco
In January 2018 Pepco engaged LiG to undertake the programme management for the build of a 1 million square foot distribution centre in Gyal a suburb of Budapest in Hungary. This greenfield development is one the largest of its kind in Central Eastern Europe and involved constructing a five-chamber site and installing automated sorters to pick orders for the ever-growing Pepco store network.
The programme was delivered against a set of unique circumstances as the Steinhoff Group underwent some significant commercial challenges affecting the programme timetable. As the project was nearing completion, the Covid 19 pandemic struck but despite this, all was delivered and the site went operational on 09/03/20.
“Pepco engaged LiG to programme manage the build of the site which is the largest retail warehouse is Eastern Europe. It was a challenging project that was delivered on time in 2020 following some interesting business challenges. The Programme Manager, Peter Course of LiG integrated well with the local Pepco team and other partners and led what has become a successful project.”
