Automation strategy to automate the UK DC
Superdry engaged LiG in 2016 to review their Automation strategy and their decision to automate the UK DC. LiG analysed forecasted volumes, input into the existing design ideas and then managed vendor selection process. LiG concluded that the most appropriate strategy for Superdry was to improve the operating efficiency of the UK DC and focus the automation solution at a later time in the EU DC, so deferring the automation spend (circa £20m) and giving time for better understanding the Brexit effect.
“LiG’s expertise and straightforward approach to evaluating and implementing automated warehouse solutions enabled the Superdry board to have total confidence in deferring what would have been substantial capital investment and in the wrong location. This has allowed Superdry to be better placed to manage the Brexit effect”
